Weaponising the English Language

Our O-level English program aims to improve grammar knowledge and skills through a variety of exercises, including grammar drills, editing, and sentence reconstruction. These exercises help students learn to edit their writing for grammatical accuracy and clarity, which is essential for avoiding lost marks.

In addition, the program offers comprehension, summary, and critical thinking passages that cover a wide range of general knowledge topics and current affairs. These topics include technology, science, global issues, and social trends, as well as case studies of inspiring figures.

The goal of these passages is to help students develop a global perspective and build a repository of strong evidence for essay writing.

The program also focuses on refining critical reading and writing skills through weekly lessons.

These lessons help students build writing skills by learning how to fine-tune language using signposting and hedging, hone summary writing skills by learning how to paraphrase effectively and organise responses to match question requirements, enhance comprehension skills through error analysis and answer precision, and learn how to apply critical reasoning skills to evaluate information, recommendations, and lines of reasoning presented in written and visual texts.

In addition to these skills, our program trains students in techniques and skills that will help them excel in their examinable components.

This includes helping students hone time management skills through practice tests in simulated exam conditions, learn to analyse and review errors to identify and work on weaknesses, recap and review question analysis and answering techniques, and analyse assessment requirements.

Our tuition classes also teach students how to use the appropriate tone, register, and structure to present ideas and opinions clearly and confidently during oral examinations.
