"I loved the numerous, in depth examples (such as the Vipeholm experiment/Black Panthers) provided according to each question as now I can expand on my "example bank" at home. I also loved how active and interactive this class was; it wasn't simply the tutor passively teaching content but also actively critiquing our work. The tutor’s suggestions and praise really motivated me and helped me realise areas to improve :D"

My favourite aspect of today’s class was the shared Google Doc and the way you provided feedback to everyone publicly. It was fascinating to see how others approached the same question, as each person brought a unique perspective different from my own. Reading their responses broadened my horizons and gave me new ways of thinking about the topic and improving my own writing. I also like how the lesson resources provided delve far deeper into the topic than what’s covered during the lesson, allowing us to read wider in our own time.

“My favourite part of the class included the collation of examples to use in our AQ's as I find that the AQ topics that Cambridge sets can be quite unpredictable. So the example bank in the lesson material really encouraged my confidence in tackling the wide range of AQ questions. I loved the part where everyone compiled ideas and examples together for the given text references, I enjoyed searching up examples and reading what others wrote :)”

Our tutor allowed us to dissect an own essay question to really understand the steps behind crafting an analytical eloquent essay, instead of merely heaping content at us. “I enjoyed reading the essay because it was very unique. Personally, I think that to be able to write at that level is a long journey but soon, I hope to be able to write like that or close to it. Being exposed to new examples was also an eyeopener to me because I think they deserve to be brought out and shared and utilised. They are incredibly apt examples once you know how to extract the relevant features.”

“The content bulking (examples) that the tutor went through were very insightful and added a new layer of analysis for me. As a whole, the class inspired greater meta thinking, more than I am exposed to in my classes (such as how the mass media may be a birth of people's perceptions, and that alone, it is completely harmless. So it is ironically alarming that it is bemoaned by many. I see a similar analysis in being open minded that is implied in the conclusion that close-mindedness also acts as a catalyst for oppression and that being open minded is crucial for discourse.”

“I loved how the entire class commenced really smoothly, there were no awkward breaks or anything. It was an eye-opening experience because the model essay was not was I was used to seeing (the generic ones that sound very awkward and boring) but this essay was very rich, full of flavour and fluid.”
